Great Santa Stakeout, The

Author: Betsy Bird; Illustrator: Dan Santat

  • AGES 4 - 8
  • Genre Fiction
Freddy Melcher is Santa's #1 Fan. He has Santa posters, Santa action figures, and even Santa underwear. But there is one prize Freddy desperately wants: A photograph taken with Santa, fresh out of the chimney.

Oh, is it risky! It's awfully hard to sneak anything by someone who can see you when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake. That's why Freddy has been extra good this year . . . at hiding his plans.

Will Freddy get away with his delightfully devious scheme to outwit Santa Claus himself and capture the ultimate selfie?

Watch The Trailer!

Dear friends and family,

BETSY BIRD has been a busy little librarian! In addition to writing GIANT DANCE PARTY with art by Brandon Dorman, and compiling silly stories in FUNNY GIRL for older kid readers, she’s also kept up her blog, A Fuse #8 Production, and even started podcasting about picture books with her show Fuse 8 n’ Kate.

DAN SANTAT has been doing very well with his art! He brought home the Caldecott Medal for THE ADVENTURES OF BEEKLE: THE UNIMAGINARY FRIEND, and his books ARE WE THERE YET? and AFTER THE FALL (HOW HUMPTY DUMPTY GOT BACK UP AGAIN) are both NEW YORK TIMES bestsellers. He was also very excited to work with his favorite friend, Dav Pilkey, on the RICKY RICOTTA’S MIGHTY ROBOT series. Betsy and Dan have been keeping up their own websites, dantat.com and betsybirdbooks.com.

Merry Christmas!

Betsie, Dan, and Chewie
